But what many people who come to Germany for its splendor in brewed and baked goodies often do not suspect is it’s deep rooted love for Carnival.
Carnival is a cultural melting pot that brings people together in the streets all over Germany. It takes place once per year, kicking of November 11 and ending around Ash Wednesday several months later. During this period of time people with different Nationalities meet in the streets to accompany parades and collect sweets and roses.
A famous painter, when asked why he painted a picture, replied that: “If I could express my painting in words I would not need to paint it.”
In the same spirit, please enjoy the following pictures of Carnival in Cologne-Rodenkirchen, Germany.
Lately it seems that most missions I could be on are shadowed by one ultimate mission.
I would travel far and dig deep, climb mountains and hurdle dangerous terrains to achieve this goal.
What is it?
Make her smile!
Yup, making her smile is like the most precious gift. Yes, there are so many other things I am grateful for, but one of them is her smile. In that moment it’s like the world stops turning and everything freezes, just for her smile.
There’s really no better way to describe the satisfaction I get from seeing her smile and knowing it’s because I caused it. If there was one ego trait I would keep, it would be the pleasure of knowing I made her smile, I was able to make her happy.
More than just planting flowers
Yes, it takes allot of effort to get a garden going. That’s not where it ends however. Once you got your garden going and the first plants blooming you also have to maintain it, which takes consistent effort.
Once you slack off your garden will pay the price.
She is my greatest garden project. It’s a four-season task. But every ounce of sweat I poor in I get out manyfold. When she blooms, her flowers challenge the beauty of any plant around her.
Through Stormy Weather
Don’t think true love is just smooth sailing. Don’t think true love is even anywhere close to true love when the sky turns dark, the clouds go gray and the storm pulls in.
It’s tough! Ever seen one of those old movies, with a fisherman at sea, fighting against the see, trying to keep his course while the wind just keeps beating at him. Well, that’s smooth sailing compared to how things can get with her.
But after every storm the sun comes out and the sky turns blue. Looking up I always find that that rain bow. Whether it really has a pot of gold at it’s end, I don’t know. But one thing is for shore, it marks the beginning of a new phase and clear new sky. All old grief washes away by the dispute.
It takes some looking inward, and searching for shortcoming by my self to really stay on corse during and after the storm, but compassion always widens my heart and clears my mind.
Yes, my favorite moments are watching her walk away, well knowing that once the sun set’s we shall embrace on another again.
She is my hero. A mother and a wife.
The magic of birth is to me the grandest of all things that happen. I was able to be part of it.
The result a being I have been able to watch growing and thriving, changing and advancing.
She has given me so many presents, and supported me in so many ways.
My pot of gold at the end of the rainbow
One thing she gives me that no body ever will be able to, is her heart felt smile. And for that I am ever grateful.
There is so much information buzzing around us. Much of it we don’t even hear or feel or smell, but it’s there. It conveys the images we look at on our smart phones and pads, the tweets we read and the messages we send.
Information is one of the biggest growing markets. But we also need to take a step back, if we do that we might notice the small details of life and the senses that we perceive them with.
Through the eyes of a Child
Just the other day I was lucky play outside with my son who is three. He loves nature and is as curious as it comes. He has to touch everything, sometimes it’s quite challenging to stay on top of it, but other times, when i just take it for what it is, I see a child exploring, learning and developing. What more could a parent ask for?
Ok, that’s a child.
But what out grown ups? What senses do you enjoy using the most? Which sensations stimulate your wellbeing the most? Have you ever thought about that?
No? If you have, that’s great!
If you haven’t then its about time to go out or stay in and just become completely aware of your surrounding. The chair you are sitting on, the water cooler bubbling in the background. The cars passing by in the distance. The feeling of the chair you are sitting on.
A way to brake out
There is nothing like a busy schedule, to many tasks ahead and not enough time. That’s life for almost 60 percent of society. Many of us like to wear allot of hats.
But when it all comes raining down and you just can’t hold your self, you are about to scream or become a social lunatic- what do you do, when it feels like the four walls around you are shrinking down.
Well I know what I do. I just take a step back and try to realize ” the oceans are vast and the heavens are endless”. It’s easy to say that, but what does it actually mean?
For me it’s becoming aware of where I actually am, right now right here. Ok, check!
Then it’s realizing that the problem is not the problem by me and how I am dealing with it. Ok, check!
Now I take a deep breath and lean back for a moment. See that? Yup, that’s my posture. How am I actually sitting, standing- what is my body language actually telling me? Ok, check!
Sounds, smells, touch…..all that is like a sensational reboot. Ok, check!
And when I finally turn back to face my problem, the one that seemed as big as a seven story building, seen from the perspective of an ant. That precise problem has now shrunk to the size of a grape and fits into my food bowl.
More to it than a simple conclusion can spell
The point is, there are are so many small things we take for granted that can actually have huge positive effects on us, while we over focus on miner trivia and amplify them to proportions unrelated to their actual importance in life.
Once we take a step back and go inside our selves, it’s like a new world with so many places and faces. You can travel all the roads in this world and still not find peace, but once you journey just one step into yourself you might find enlightenment.
